Tenancy law is primarily regulated in §§ 535 to 597 of the BGB. It covers the rights and obligations of both parties, including the landlord's obligation to provide use of the property and the tenant's obligation to pay rent. Special protection against dismissal exists for residential tenants. Rent increases are subject to strict statutory requirements.
